Despite what Roxio says, I was able to get Roxio EMC 8 Suite to install and run on Vista. The trick is to use Vista's Program Compatibility Wizard.
Place the install CD in your drive but don't run it. Go to the Vista Control Panel and find the Program Compatibility Wizard (usually under "How do I get an older program to run in Windows" or something like that). The wizard asks a bunch of questions. I answered them as follows: program is in my CD/DVD drive, used to run under Windows XP (SP2), didn't put a check mark in any of the boxes on the next screen (Roxio 8 doesn't need to be run in 256 colors, etc), gave it administrative rights, and then told it to install using those settings. Roxio will then fire up (with the rest of the wizard in the background), install, and ask to reboot. Before you reboot, click on the wizard again and tell it that it worked and to use those settings every time for Roxio 8. It's up to you to send a report to Microsoft or not on the final screen. After that, THEN reboot your computer. So far I have run 8 of the 15 or so apps that make up Roxio 8 with no problems. Only one program said it was missing a component but I blame the install program rather than Vista for that. If it becomes a big problem, I will run a program repair.
Here is my PC's specs:
Dell Inspiron 1505 with a 2 GHz (4 MB Cache) Core 2 Duo
2 GB RAM
120 GB HDD
ATI Radeon X1400
Roxio Creator 9 DE (that I may be uninstalling very soon to prevent it from running into Roxio EMC 8) Vista Home Premium
