capturing video

I had both EMC 7&8 on one computer. Put EMC 7 on my other computer - HP a450n. Want to capture from a VCR to Roxio. Have a ConvertX from VCR to computer. Went to Capture, it recognized the convertX, clicked and everything came up - "best quality", file it will be saved in, etc. Clicked on start capturing, turned on VCR, small red light was flashing in lower window of Capture preview. But the Capture preview window is black. Doesn't want to capture video for me - what am I doing wrong?? Help will be greatly appreciated. MK

I think you have to use the software included with the ConvertX which according to their website is InterVideo.

 

You could try capturing with Windows Movie Maker, but usually you get the best capture with the software that came with the device.

 

Once you've captured the video, you should be able to use EMC to edit and burn to DVD.
