DVD burning question

rwilk

Question

I'm burning a an idvd disc image in toast to a blank dvd. I just noticed that there are not only different speed settings, but speed settings with DVD next to them.

Before I saw this I burned a DVD at 1x. What's the difference between 1x and 1xDVD? or 2x vs. 2xDVD, 4x vs. 4xDVD etc....

Please help! Thanks.

Bob

Sorry I misunderstood. 1X speed for CDs is slower than 1X speed for DVDs. After you insert either CD or DVD media you'll only see the speeds that apply to that kind of media. The ones without DVD are for CDs.

Thank you. That was a big help. I appreciate it very much.

Those settings are only for how fast the disc gets burned. They don't affect play back. However, there is greater chance of a problem when burning discs at faster speed, so what you did was take the most cautious route.

Thanks for your reply. I understand the difference between the speeds, but what's the difference, for example, between 4x and 4xDVD? That's what I don't understand.
