How To Totally Shut Off Media Application Accelerator

jsrx

Question

I am running on Win 2000 + SP4.

I only recently became aware of the Media Application Services icon in the right bottom bar on my desktop.

It seems to watch my folder activities and I guess it is part of EMC8 backup application (am I right?).

Something like this clearly has an effect on the computer's performance and since I am not using

the EMC8 backup feature, it does not make sense for me to have it active, let alone that it should have made me aware and ask my explicit permission to stick something like this during the product installation.

BTW, does EMC8 has any other tricks installed w/o the installer made clearly aware of them?...

How do I get rid of this "thing" completely?

Many thanks,

jsrx

Go into Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to EMC 8, click on Change, click on Modify, click on the icon to the left of Media Manager, click on Will Not Be Installed On the Hard Drive, or whatever the words are.
