another vob question

bamagal

Question

I posted a question earlier about not being able to get my vob files into videowave. I got a very quick and helpful response. But now I have another question:

On about half of my files it worked great when I changed the name to .mpg The rest it lost 90% of the file. I changed the name back to .vob and the files are all there. I tried to copy the file and change the name of the copy, but it still doesn't work.

Can you help me figure out what to do about that? Thanks again.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge. But I can't see how to import it. When I click on the capture/import link, it opens a window that does not give me the option of accessing any computer files....just from external sources.....so How do I import a file that is on my computer?
You are correct. EMC 9 no longer has teh ability to 'import VOB files from the hard drive.' I think V7.5 was the last version that could.

I just got V9...and I am trying to bring in VOB files to VideoWave9. I have the typical files VTS_01_1.VOB thru VTS_01_4.VOB that are under the VIDEO_TS directory. Since V9 does not handle VOB files for some reason, I have to rename the files to *.mpeg to edit them in VideoWave9. This works great on the first VOB file but all subsequent files 2-4 contain no sound? When I perform the same steps in Version 7 I cannot duplicate this error. All renamed VOB files do have sound. Any ideas?

All the "ideas" were discussed in the thread…

Personally, I haven't had any problems with VOB files. Everything I've recorder using my LiteOn set top recorder has worked fine. In fact, Videowave or MyDVD does NOT re-encode my files, but does transcode the MPEG audio to AC3.

So your problem could be the source files. From what source? What bitrate do they use? What audio codec do they use? etc.

I am using the Sony DvDirect machine to create the DVD. from the original sourcve which is a Hi8 Video Camcorder. Once the DVD is finalized, I copy the VOB files from the DVD to a computer that has Roxio installed. What really gets me is that the first renamed VOB file works just fine and all subsequent files have no sound. Good Vidoe but hjust no sound. And what really bothers me is that they all work just fine in Version7. When I pull up the properties of the VOB file that works, the Audio Stream format is 48000Hz, Surround. Thanks in advance

Why not just take that finalized DVD, put it in the disc drive on the computer that has Roxio 9, and capture to the hard drive. It should be able to do that if the disc is finalized, and you should end up with mpeg2 files with audio.

Import the "movies" as avi file (preferred if you are going to do any editing and have plenty of disc space) or as mpg2 files from the original disc. Add the imported AVI or mpg file to VideoWave. :)

I don't remember if you ever explained where the VOB files came from and how you got them on your computer.
