Can't burn additional data folders/files to DVD+R.

Beau

Question

Creator Basic ver. 9, new HP Pavilion desktop, Windows Vista.

This is the first PC for me with a DVD burner. I have burned CD-R & CD-RW media for many years.

I bought some blank DVD+R disks that are compatible with my burner and copied some folders to it successfully using hardly any disk space. However I can't burn additional folders or files to this DVD. I burned it as "data" and did not "finalize" it. I get a warning message that the disk is about to be formatted in Roxio. If I try to drag in Windows Vista to the disk it says there is no room and to insert a blank DVD. I can see my folders on the DVD but can't write more to it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks folks.

Beau

When working in Classic with Sessions, you have to use Classic to burn more Sessions to the disc.

That entails placing the disc into your burner before attempting to add anything to the destination window in Classic. You will get a popup or at least see the Import Session icon become active. You have to import the Session from the disc in order to add anything to it.

I don't have Vista but I understand it can write Data DVDs. You might be able to write a disc started in Classic but I found it to be hit or miss with CDs in XP.

Likewise taking a disc started in XP and getting to work in Classic was also hit or miss…

Thank you James for your quick reply and help. As I was getting ready to follow your instructions my brand new HP computer's DVD burner made a weird noise, probably damaging my DVD, and a fabric washer came out of the bay. I was afraid I was goign to have a problem with this drive when it wouldn't make the Recovery Disks.

I'll check back here.
