I'm trying trying to burn a movie to DVD. When encoding begins it just sits there with no progress. I've tried waiting up to an hour but the percentage of completion never changes. I don't think it's encoding. Anyone have any suggestions?

Are you saying teh encoding process just sits at 0% ?

If that's the case, you need to update your video adapter drivers to the most current ones, or if you already have the latest installed, uninstall them, reboot so it installs the generic windows ones, then re-install them.

Basically you go to the website of the manufacturer of your video adapter and download the latest one. They'll have instructions on how to install it usually on the site.

Larry,

I already have the latest version of DirectX. Downloaded it this morning.

I was refering to your video adapter/card drivers, not the directx software (which it was good you did that too). To find out what video adapter and driver version you have, right click on My Computer and select Properties. When that window opens up, click on the Hardware tab, then click on the Device Manager button. Then look under Display Adapters and post what's listed.

To find out what video card you have, right click anywhere on the desktop and go to properties and then settings. It will say there what the video card is.

Then go to the nVidia or ATI website (presuming it's one of those) and download the latest drivers from either 'downloads' or 'support'

Sure, pick the easy way to get to the info

Larry,

I have an NVidia GeForce 7300LE video card. I went to the NVidia website and to download drivers but don't know which one to download. Seems like I have the latest already but maybe not.
