Text Overlay is distorted

Tester55555

Question

Something has changed. I made a video awhile back and this problem was not happening. The PC I use for video editing is disconnected from anything (internet, network, etc) and nothing has changed on that PC. Here's the issue. Now when I create a video with text the text looks OK on the screen, but when I output the video all the text looks distorted. I tried changing fonts, but that don't help. Sound familiar? Any help would be appreciated.

You have said in a different thread that you do not have any internet connection to the computer you are using for Video work.

Therefore, I would suggest you avoid trying EMC 9 (even the Trial Version) because WITHOUT an internet connection to REGISTER it, it WON'T WORK. It says that in System Requirements - the last dot - and it's not joking.

Nope - I'm still using 6. Thanks anyway...It's so strange. It worked a few days ago and now it's like it just broke for an unknown reason. As I stated before, nothing has changed on this PC. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but that didn't help. The text just comes out distorted on Video. Sucks. Is anyone seeing any major benefits of EMC 9? I'm thinking of purchasing it, but I don't want to, if the text is still going to be distorted.

Well, something has changed.

It's possible for files to be corrupt even if you haven't changed anything. I'd suspect the video card drivers if you haven't installed any new programs and the fonts you're using are the same ones you've used in the past.

Ok, maybe the Media Manager db is corrupt.

Try the following and see if it helps.

Rename your Media Manager folder:

Media Manager is a hidden file. Go to My Computer/Tools/Folder Options, click on View, scroll down to Hidden Files and folders, and click in the circle to the left of Show hidden files and folders. Click on Apply, then Ok.

a. Close all open applications, especially Roxio applications.

b. Open My Computer.

c. Double click on the C: drive and browse to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Roxio, where USERNAME is the name of the user you are currently logged in as.

d. Right click on the MediaManager folder and choose rename.

e. Name the folder MediaManager.old

I get the same thing but only for some of the 3-D Text effects such as Red Devil Slide. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it, so I am using regular text fonts instead. It really sucks not being able to use all of the functionality.

I tried this and it's still not working. Thanks, but I would really like to get this working. Anybody else have any other suggestions? EMC9?

Did you try updating your video card drivers as I suggested? It's possible that the video card drivers have become corrupt and it's using Windows default drivers.

The program relies on the video card when it renders the video. ( That's also why many 3D effects won't work on some computers.)
