Lost Data When Saving to CDR/RW

worahm

Question

When I try to save data from MSWord, Excel, or Email, using EMC9 to my CDRW, I can varify the data is on the CD as long as I don't remove the CD from the machine. When I reinsert the CD, the data is gone. The CD is reported as empty. This occurs when I use "SAVE AS" or the drag-to-disc feature. I have tried a variety of settings without success. I understand that saving data to a CD is risky, but most of the data is not critical and is stored for only a short period of time. It is more a matter of convenience then backing up data. I am certain I am setting something up incorrectly but have run out of ideas. I sure would appreciate any help. worahm

Use Creator Classic.

OK....You've got me stumped. I have no idea what Creator Classic is or where I can find it. I've checked the forum and found no mention of program named Creator Classic. Are you saying that EMC9 is incapabable of handling a simple task like saving data to a CDRW? worahm

What program in EMC are you trying to use to save the data?A lot of programs won't let you save directly to a CD.I think you'll have a hard time going from any program directly to EMC unless it's one of the choices in the program. What you can do is save the data to your hard drive and then write it to disc using EMC.

I'd think that maybe you're trying to use XP's built in writing capabilities if you're trying to write directly to the disc.Or,if it is any part of EMC it's Drag to Disc.Seeing the data may depend on how you've got your eject settings set for that drive.

I've tried to save directly to a cd from an Excel document and it won't even let me try.

You need to check the programs in the EMC 9 suite.:blink::blink:
