no sound when creating DVD from MPEGs

Question

I was creating a DVD from MPEGs created by SageTV. Everthing appeared to work correctly but there was no sound.

I do not have a sound card which I know is a requirement but I didn't think it would be needed since I wasn't capturing sound from an external source. Is a sound card needed for this? I have great sound from my ASUS motherboard.

Can someone help me? If I have to have a 16bit sound card for this to work, will someone please recommend a low/mid price card that will meet my needs?

Thanks.

Were you trying to use MyDVD for this?

Is this a Retail version of EMC 9, the Trial version, or a basic one (one that comes with a disc drive or pc package)?

What were the project settings?

What are the file specs that SageTV output to?

Thanks Larry for your help. I'm using the box version of EMC 9 Suite. I just got it at Costco last week. I think it has all the updates from when I installed it. It was a registered and activated version.

I was using MyDVD for this - I used Fit to Disk for the quality. I dragged the files in from Windows Explorer and edited their file names. Then I trimmed the commericals off the front and back ends using something that I can't find again. It was a simple editor that only let me trim the beginning and end of a project. When I was just trying it again, I did a similar project withOUT doing any trimming and then previewed the project and one recording has no sound but the other two DO have sound. The one that doesn't have sound is MPEG2-PS[MPEG2-Video 16:9 720p@60fps, AC3@48kHz Stereo eng]. Both of the ones that worked are 4:3 480i@29.97fps.

Do you need any more info? Thanks again for your and anybody elses' help.
