Won't take SOME audio files or SOME image files

Timoteo6

Question

I am making a DVD tribute to my mom for my family, discovered 406 PIX after she died in 2004, got most into MyDVD 9 (80 hours so far, plus scanning time & 40 hrs. editing time on Photoshop) but now it doesn't accept SOME photos (all scanned to HD) PLUS it doesn't want to take SOME audio (again, all ripped to HD). Error message: "Failed to analyze file" (audio), "stringRef" error for photos...

I "chatted w/ expert" from Roxio (no clue, except to "disable startup menu", no help). I have uninstalled & re-installed. I have made 45 very nice DVD's with My DVD 5 & got DVD 9 because of the "pan & zoom" for PIX.

I would like to not have to start over (Premiere Elements, Ulead programs, etc) because I do like the new menu format I have done. Plus, re-sorting 15 sessions so far to 6 chapters....

I will need to to "custom fit" audio tracks via Cakewalk but Cripes, it doesn't see them as acceptable MPEGS!!

This project is almost good to go but without a few more relavent pix and a custom soundtrack via Cakewalk (30's, 40', 50's music, etc) it isn't finished.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Not sure why you are using cakewalk but ... Open Sound Editor, add the files that won't play and then export the clips to a new folder as wav files. Sometimes the video processing programs don't like the format of some of the music files.

Did you accidentally compress some of those scanned images? What format did you scan them to? Perhaps this is the issue. Be careful; the post is for V8. I don't know what would happen if you used it for V9. I linked to that just because of the information about the file extension. If they were saved as tif files with LZW compression, the program may not see them. See if they will open in Photosuite. If they do, re-save them as jpg or other and then try using them again.

All images are jpeg format; no compression. Matter of fact, some photos are accepted in one menu chapter, but not in another menu chapter -weird. I'm using the cakewalk program to put together 4-5 shortened music clips into one.

Thanks, I will try all your suggestions later today.

All images are jpeg format; no compression.
JPEG by definition is 'compressed' even if you chose 100% quality. There are several JPG formats not supported.

JP2, J2K, and J2C which are JPEG 2000 formats are not supported

With the 'regular' JPG format, I don't think the progressive format is supported. I haven't had any problem with Standard or Optimized YUV411 or YUV422 JPG format.

Videowave/MyDVD has full support for PNG files, too. I like it much better because that file format support transparency and layers.

What file format are you using to output the CakeWalk files? WAV files are larger, but then Videowave/MyDVD has to do less work with them. MP3 , like any other compressed file, MUST BE uncompressed in memory before the application can use them.

What program in EMC did you produce your slide show in ? The best way to end up with a DVD is produce your slide show using "VIDEOWAVE", save it as a DMSM file and then open MyDVD program and import the dmsm file. Then do any other editing you want in MyDVD before burning.
