No audio from VideoWave 9

hawkeyes

Question

Have three mp3 files added to slideshow. They are shown in 'music' and 'stx'. But, during preview there is no audio. In Audio Editor the 'left level' and 'right level' indicators show audio when selection is played, but no audio from computer speakers. These are the same audio files used by MyDVD V5 and worked well. Have tried the control panel-sounds/audio-acceleration thing.....no change. No audio set-up is muted on the computer. DVD burned with this slideshow has no audio. Am using Compaq Presario, 3 GHz, 1GB RAM, 2 TeraByte of external drives, Iomega external DVD burner, and various DVD media. Any suggestions?

It still sounds like a speaker setting in the Control Panel. Does the same file play in Windows Media Player? if not then, I would check the Control Panel again.

Nope, it's happened to me too. I haven't quite figured what is causing it but it happens sometimes when I change an audio track or change a video track in VideoWave.

The trick I found to getting the sound back (IF this is the same problem you are having hawkeyes) is to highlight, or click on the track you can't hear then click on the little speaker icon on the tool bar just above your tracks, you know, the one where you can add some db boost to your track. Then JUST CLOSE that little "boost" window and sound magically comes back to that track.

Don't know what's causing it, but at least the fix was easy enough. Hope that is exactly your problem. If so, this will take care of it.

Tried the select-adjust volume thing. The first track, in preview, has no audio, the second track now has about 1 second of audio, then noise, the third track still has no audio. When selecting an audio track then 'edit', the first track, during play, shows left/right audio on the 'level meters' but nothing on the chart. The second track shows left/right audio on the 'meters' when played but the chart is full of noise. The third track is like the first. Somehow the audio for tracks 1 and 3 exists but doesn't make it through VideoWave whereas track 2 exists but is all noise. Except for being shown on the 'level meters'. I have deleted and re-added, same thing. The tracks are mp3 and play via several audio player packages, but not VideoWave. Since there is little usefull info via 'help' does anyone know what the maximum sample rate is that VideoWave can use?

Addendum.......Yes, I loaded the audio files in VideoWave and burned several DVDs via "Burn with MyDVD Express" option under "File". Also to be noted.......the "Video", "Music", etc., buttons to the left of the Production Editor are grayed-out. The buttons just to the right of the grayed-out icons do seem to work.

I am impressed with the bells and whistles of VW 9.......but totally disgusted with the mindless, functionless, useless "Help" in the package. Another prime example of something written by those that know how the package works for those that know how the package works.

Did you produce your slide show in "Videowave" and if so, is that where you added the audio files ?? Then from there after saving it, did you import that file into MyDVD and produce or burn the DVD in that program ?? Just curious.
