How can I use .m2t files?

mka

Question

I have some HD .m2t files that I got from my Sony HD camcorder but am unable to import them into the DVDit program. I tried renaming them as .mpg files but that did not help. Is there some "simple" way to convert them into a format I can use?

I just downloaded a trial version of the Womble MPEG Video Wizard which is supposed to be able to translate m2t files. I'll post the result after I've tried it. First, I want to resolve my missing sonicmpgvout.dll file problem (see my other post).

See if the last post in this thread helps.

Well, I tried the Womble Video Wizard and it can't handle my .m2t files either. According to the Media Player Classic (which is the only player that can read them) the files are

type: m2t-auto-file, 1440x1080 (AR 16:9)

video: MPEG2 Video 1440x1080 (16:9) 29.97fps 25000Kbps

Audio: MPEG Audio 48000Hz stereo 384Kbps [Audio]

Subtitle: DVD Subpicture [subtitle]

Sorry about asking the same question as in an earlier thread. I just bought DVDit and I had skimmed over the whole forum a couple of days ago and must have missed it. I didn't look again when I asked my question.

One of the responses in the earlier thread was to use StreamClip. I tried that but it did not recognize my .m2t files. I captured my .m2t files from my camera about a year ago and I think that I used Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 then but I no longer have that program on my system for whatever that is worth. So I'm still open to suggestions. Thanks.
