Sonic Record Now

Question

I am new at all of this so I apologize upfront if I'm not in the correct discussion group. I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop with Sonic Record Now installed. I've never had a problem in the past but now when I try to record a CD I get a message upon opening Record Now that there is No Recorder. I rolled back to IE 6 and that did not correct the problem. I am able to make a CD thru Windows Media Player by dragging tracks - I just don't understand why I can't use the Record NOw? Can anyone help me? Also, I am confused about what Sonic DLA is? Do I need it to make copies of CD's or to create CD's? Could that be causing my problem? I'd appreciate any help - thanks!

Do you have EMC9 installed? If you do and have Sonic DLA installed, it conflicts with Roxio Drag to Disc so you should remove one or the other. Both are packet writing programs and if you did install EMC9,it should have removed Sonic DLA first.

If you don't have EMC9 installed, what else do you have installed that's similar to RecordNow?

I don't know what EMC9 is? So, I don't think I have it. The only thing I have is Record Now. Of course, Windows Media Player. I do have iTunes installed so I can update my Ipod. I don't even know how or when I got the Sonic DLA? As you can tell I am NOT very experience at this. All I know is that I used to be able to put a CD in my CD-RW drive and make a copy of the CD. Now it just says "no recorder"? Should I delete the DLA?

Let's not go removing anything just yet. Was iTunes installed before you had this problem? The older versions of iTunes did cause problems like this. Was any other software added at all?

EMC9 (Easy Media Creator 9) is a full suite of applications. Likely, the program you have came pre-installed on your system and Sonic DLA is a part of that program. It's basically a drag and drop program that many don't feel is safe for saving and archiving data.

Thanks for all your help! My problem is finally resolved - I got advice from Roxio and update my PX Engine? and that took care of the problem. Again, thanks!
