I am ready to subscribe to a digital TV service of some kind, and my main criteria is compatibility between Toast 8's TivoToGo and whatever HD DVR is provided through the service. Toast 8's TivoToGo component claims to be compatible with Tivo or Tivo compatible DVRs.
Yesterday I kicked a U-verse installer out of my house because he told me that transferring files from the supplied DVR to a computer wasn't supported or possible (a sales rep had told me otherwise).
AT&T's Dish Network package includes a feature called Home Zone that boasts compatibility "with video software file transfer to computer or handheld video devices".
How can I determine whether Toast 8's TivoToGo will be compatible with a service and the DVR supplied through that service before I subscribe to the service?
