Want MyDVD movie to stop after final credits

brasha

Question

Have created a MyDVD production with 6 movies. Final movie has scrolling credits at the end.

Have also added an unlinked button to the menu and linked it to 'all movies in the project'

Movie encodes, burns, etc correctly but I would like the movie to stop when it completes the final frame of the scrolling credits (effectively leaving the credits displayed). Currently the movie always 'returns' to the main menu.

Yes, it did work. Added a final panel, with credits text on it - captured image for the panel from the end of the scrolling-credits preview, so did not have to type in the text again.

.... doing this did, however, lead to another 'how is this working ....' question

My DVD project is 6 movies - each one originally a separate VideoWave production.

While in MyDVD, I chose to edit movie #6, which put me into the VideoWave editing tool.

There I made the changes, returned to MyDVD, saved the project, burned the movie, etc - all is fine.

I then checked the original VideoWave movie#6 project, and it was NOT updated with the changes made when MyDVD launched me into the VideoWave editor. Yet, re-opening the revised/saved MyDVD project, it still does 'see' the changes I made. Question is - where is MyDVD keeping track of the changes made to individual movies - does not seem reasonable to me that the changes are tracked within the MyDVD project file, yet the originating movie source files are not altered either.

In my opinion, would be nice if MyDVD/Videowave prompted the user on whether want to save the changes to the source movie file when editing a movie within MyDVD.

Any thoughts/ideas ?

Thanks,

Brad

Once you bring in a Videowave prodcution into MyDVD, any change you make to that prodcution within MyDVD does not update the original Videowave production. Same is true if you open Videowave on its own and modify the production, it will not be reflected in the title with the same name in MyDVD. This issue has been brought up to Roxio's attention. :(

There is no way to do that that I can think of. What you have described is not standard behaviour for DVD playback on commercially produced discs or with any home authoring program.

What Larry said......I just checked as I would have liked to known the answer too. I couldn't find a way to do it with one of my "Test" projects.

You can, however, make that credit last a LOT longer. This may not work for a rolling or scrolling text credits.

If you used a color panel and then just added text, you can STRETCH that panel out for quite a long time. You can add more music or leave it silent.

If you are using rolling or scrolling text, you could always add another color panel and with the last few lines or whatever you decide, place that on THAT last panel, (no scroll) and stretch that one out. With or without audio tracks.

You could have that text FADE IN or SLIDE IN, but you wouldn't want it to FADE OUT or you will end up with a long playing...blank color panel.

Using an Overlay could add to the look of that "Still" panel.

That would be the only workaround I know. Understand that it will eventually run out as the panel is actually "playing". But if it's long enough, maybe that will suit your need.

Yes, I hope they come up with a message that prompts you to decide wether or not to make the changes to the "other" also.

For this reason, I do all my editing with Videowave, My DVD is for combining vids and a final look. If I see something I need to change or missed, then it's back to Videowave for that.

Live and learn, eh brasha? Don't ask me about what or how I have learned some things. I would be too embarrassed to tell ya. :D

Thanks for both replies - this being my first post to the discussion forum, I'm pleased and impressed with the prompt participation.

Since scrolling credits eventually scroll off the top if the panel time is long enough, think I'll have to try the 2nd idea of adding an additional color panel, likely containing the same text as that in the full credits, and then stretch this panel out for a long time.
