isabel95
Can't find it in Start Menu or Add/Remove. I wanted to uninstall and reinstall (with the patch) because although I can use Disc Copier I can't burn a CD or DVD I've tested my PLextor 760A burner and it can burn CDs via Windows XP but not with Roxio. I've tried installing a later version of Roxio which came with my Plextor Drive and it crashed my computer. Had to uninstall that and reinstall version 6 which was working fine until yesterday. When I go to burn a CD or DVD the yellow flashing light comes on and then returns to solid green while the drive runs interminably. I have to control-alt-delete and stop the process, reboot the drive so I can get the disk out. Isabel
gi7omy
If you can't find it, try to stop all Roxio processes and run this file http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe It will say it's for v4 and v5 but it will work with 6 Then download and run the MS Cleanup utility to remove all traces of Roxio from the registry http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Then try the new install
isabel95
Finally found the uninstall from the install disk and uninstalled and then reinstalled and applied the patches. (just to be sure, I disabled my Avast virus protection) Still can't burn a CD or DVD from Creator Classic. Machine just hangs on Green with the burner constantly running. Have to cont-alt-delete to stop the process and reboot to get the disk out. Do you think it would be worthwhile to try another uninstall and running the Microsoft cleanup utility? Isabel Try the earlier instructions. Uninstall, run roxizap to clean out the leftover bits and pieces, run the registry cleaner, and THEN try a reinstall. isabel95
Thanks for the input Lynn. I ran Roxizap and it appeared that the Microsoft Cleanup is only for Microsoft Products. Roxio is not on the list. Isabel Try the earlier instructions. Uninstall, run roxizap to clean out the leftover bits and pieces, run the registry cleaner, and THEN try a reinstall. gi7omy
Oh the cleanup will clean anything - but it just means Roxizap did its job and totally removed all registry entries (if it hadn't. MSICUU would have spotted Roxio entries in the registry) Now try the re-install

isabel95
After my last effort at uninstalling and reinstalling I got a blue screen of death - thankfully a cyberbrain friend talked me through fixing up the mess. Roxio had not been properly uninstalled and there were partial files on my computer. Wound up cleaning up the registry to JVP16 Power Tools and downloading a trial version of Cyberlink's Power2Go burning software. Easy to use and worked fine. My insides are now settling down. Thanks for your input. Isabel P.S. My computer is 4 years old and I've never wiped it clean and reinstalled. That might be part of the problem.
