How to create a WMV CUSTOM OUTPUT in VideoWave?

Gato

Question

I want to output a movie in WMV format, but I want to define the codec and audio settings.

In the output options (in VideoWave), if I select the WMV formats, the EDIT button is not active.

And if I try to create a new custom output format, then the WMV option does not show, only AVI and other formats.

It is not possible to edit a WMV output or create a new WMV output in VideoWave 9?

thanks.

Remote linking is not allowed - that's the message I get when I click your links.

The edit button is active only when you create a custom format.

Perhaps if you explain why you want to do, we can give you other ideas that may work for you. As you know, there are 11 wmv formats in the program.

Hi friend, the images are showing in the topic now, give a look.

I want to output the movie as WMV format 640 x 480, but I want to use the TECHSMITH codec, then I need to edit the settings of the WMV format. But the button EDIT is not active, and the NEW option does not show the WMV format, give a look in the images.

thanks!

TechSmith is a very good company and very responsive to questions regarding their products. I suggest that since there does not seem to be a way of doing what you want to do in VideoWave, that you contact them for help. I thought that the Tech Smith codec was a capture codec.

Which of the products are you using? I use the simple SnagIt for the demo videos that I posted here. These were screen captured at the SnagIt standard 15 fps, edited to add the text and output to the web site as WMV. Converting from 15fps to 29.97 and then to mpg gave a "fuzzy" view of V9 but the text is clear. Good enough to convey the message. Converting to avi or just using that on the net was perfect but too long a download to be used on the internet. Have you tried to change the setting in the TechSmith program to the format you want?

This might help - from their Q&A.

thanks for the answer.

I am doing 4:3. What I mean is that when you add the image as an overlay, the image is not in the original size. The image you used, Samuel Adams, is not in the original size, it fills all the area of the color panel, and this make the image a little distorted. I did the following: since the size of the movie I am working on is 640 x 480, I made another original image in Corel Draw in the width 320 pixels. Then I inserted the image as an overlay over a color black panel. The image becomes 640 width, distorted. Then I used the settings panel to resize the image to 50%, and the image is perfect now, without any distortion. If I had tried to resize the image using the handles, it would be difficult to get the perfection, but to resize to 50% is ok.

I think the solution is to work in the original image. An improvement to VideoWave 10 would be the possibility of adding an image as an overlay in the exact original size of the image.

Glad you got a work around but I don't see much of a distortion in the circle of the image I posted. . Remember to account for the TV safe zone when you size the picture. Almost any picture you add will be sized to fill the preview screen unless you resize the image in Photosuite, Photoshop or image cropper and put a color around the image.

Re: Handles? Why don't you use the properties for the overlay as shown?

I use Camtasia 4. I think I will make the movie in AVI format, since it is only 5 minutes long, there is no reason to use another format.

Let me ask you another question about VideoWave: when I insert a image as a overlay, the image becomes distorted, it is not in the original size. I can resize it using the handles, but the image get more distorted, it is very dificult to find the original size.

Do you have any suggestion to solve this problem? thanks

I'll assume that this is not one of the duplicate posts and answer it. I just tried to add an image with a circle as an overlay to a color panel. It came in as a circle and perfect to the naked eye. If you are not getting this, then there is something being done to distort the image. Are you doing 4:3 or 16:9?

If you select the overlay and select properties, you can adjust the size, placement, transparency, how the overlay moves and a bunch of other properties. You can use the size option to resize your image rather than the handles.
