Copy Feature - No Suitable Drive Selected

Jewel

Question

I have a HP Notebook that I've had now for a year now and for the first time three days ago, I opened the Sonic Media 7 Plus software. Problem: I cannot copy unprotected discs. It gives me a box that says no sutiable drive detected. My notebook of course has the capabilities to burn cds and dvds. I followed the instructions from the link that a customer rep gave me: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000040CR but of course, that did not fix it. I also went into the registry and deleted the lowerfilter as stated on another page and that didn't fix the problem either. I'm frustrated and confused now, want to pull my hair out, want to throw the notebook...

Why is this such a problem? How does one (really) fix such a problem?

Have you updated the software/firmware for your DVD burner from the manufacturer's website?

Do you have any other DVD burning software installed on your computer?

Did you happen to install IE 7 by chance recently? If so you'll need to uninstall it and roll back to IE 6.

IE 7 breaks your v7 product.

I did remove E7. I did that before I posted this message. After I removed E7, I followed the instructions over again to fix the problem. How will I know if it works? I asked because when I open the Media sotfware and go to the copy section, it is still showing "no driver selected" at the bottom.
