Does anyone know more about DivX players... I mean the DVD players for tv but with DivX...

Can I put a couple of DivX files on a DVD and the player plays it? Can I also create Menus with the movies being in DivX format? Somehow I find those are less pace consuming. Any info on this topic would be nice thank you.

I recently purchased a dvd recorder/vhs combo (the wife still insists on vhs at times) and it plays divx/xvid discs with no problem. I simply copy the file to a cd or dvd (or dvd rw) using Creator Classic and my player plays it fine.

I haven't tried adding menus but I do know in Disc Copier in Compilation mode you can add menus. I've not tried this but what I am not sure is if it will re-encode the divx file or not. Maybe someone knows more about this.

A "DivX certified" DVD player will play AVI files from any type of disc it can read - CD, DVD, R or RW. It is guaranteed with AVIs which are encoded with DivX at 'Home Theater' standard, but most other AVIs will also work quite well.

You can put AVIs onto a disc with a menu using recent versions of Roxio software.

Like Brendon , i have a set top DVD player that is Divix certified , and instead of having one movie to one dvd disk , i can now have 3 to 4 movies to a dvd disk, ect, also you can have a 4.7 or 8 gig DVD disk full of Mp3 songs and they play them to... so all in all they work very well
