Backup My PC -help

NKS

Question

First, I am computer challenged, I admit it. But this program was supposed to be user friendly.

I am running Windows XP, I have a floppy drive and an external hard drive (e:/). I installed Backup My PC 2006 yesterday and by clicking on the disaster recovery section managed to make 4 floppy disks however the verify the content section didn't work so I don't know if I did this properly. How do I check?

Then my computer started backing up files for the disaster recovery but to CD instead of to the external drive. Well after 27 disks and being no where near done, the program decided that it couldn't read the CD drive and quit in the middle. What do I do now? Also it is ridiculous to have over 50 disks (if the thing finished) I just want to back up to my external drive!

can someone help, I can't get the program to do anything but send things to the CD drive.

I can't get the regular back up to go to the external drive either.

Thank you,

NKS

You can back up to an external drive, but not with disaster recovery. Also it stopped as there is a limit of 32 media, whether CD or DVD. Also the disaster recovery backsup everything connected to your system, including external drives.

Just create a regular backup job to backs up your internal drives to the external. Make sure you have back up busy files and system state checked to back up. If you ever have to restore, you will have to reinstall windows, reinstall BUMP, and use device view to restore, as you will not have a catalog to use in a recovery situation. Also you will have to check restore to an alternate location as the full directory structure will not be there.
