Question

Is drag to disc part of EMC 9 or not? Without the update drag to disc fails to work. With the update drag to disc fails to EXIST.

I have Vista and it may or may not be compatible your site states:

Cause

Through a clerical error, a driver is incorrectly being blocked as incompatible with Windows Vista. In fact, all Easy Media Creator 9 products, including the latest version of MyDVD and Record Now are fully compatible with Windows Vista. Resolution

The error, while annoying, will not effect the functionality of Easy Media Creator 9, RecordNow 9, or MyDVD 9. However, if you wish to eliminate the error, we currently offer two work-around's for the issue. One is for Dell OEM customers and one non-Dell customers.

Drag to Disc is part of EMC and cannot be removed in a custom install. After installation, it can be removed using the Control Panel and is listed as a separate program.

Removing Drag to Disc in Vista, for me, solved the problem and I don't use it anyway.

Thanks, I think uninstalling D2D solved the problem of the incompatibility error . (I had done the D2D uninstall earlier, before starting this post)

I tried to use the update, it would not uninstall so I did that from the control panel. I then ran the update at Roxio after uninstalling from the control panel in an attempt to fix drag to disc so it would work on Vista.

I think the statement by Roxio implies that the update should have fixed the "clerical error" and caused drag to disc to work, not eradicate that part of the program.

Based on what you quoted in your first post, it says "However, if you wish to eliminate the error, ...".

That was a snippit from the link at Roxio. I personally would like to get drag to disc to work.

I strongly suggest you use Creator Classic to keep your data, etc. Packet writing is not a good way to keep info as it is unreliable in any program you purchase. However, I would agree that if it is included, it should work correctly.

Thanks Paul. I found references to that in other parts of the forum. I think that is why I lost so many files when I had Easy Cd Creator on my old Windows 98. I uninstalled the drag to disc (or whatever it was called) back then because it was junk. Years later you would think the technology would have improved.

I will give up on D2D and I appreciate your response.

Now, if the regular burner would just see my appendable data from my DVD discs I would be in good shape.

I started a post on that issue too. Customer Service (Live chat) just wants me to call someone, they can't answer questions. I may have to go get a open source program that actually works.

P.S. Not your fault, just venting!
