Slideshow With Audio Help

mendinfences

Question

I have been attempting to burn a DVD of a slideshow I created for work. Burning completed but then could not be read on my TV-DVD player. I need folks to be able to take this out to speaking engagements. One issue I believe may have been causing problems was the iTunes song I had attached to the slideshow file. I took that off (at the recommendation of a Mac helper) and burned it onto a CD. Now, I'd like to have that audio play while I have the slideshow playing. Will this work? How can I do this?

Thanks so much for your help!!!

Neither the Toast DVD slide show nor the Photo Disc (in the Data window) have audio with the slides. You would need to make a movie slide show in Motion Pictures which is bundled with Toast. I would first extract the audio from the CD using iTunes before trying to use it with Motion Pictures.

I'll advise you that there can be copyright issues with what you are proposing to do. Syncing copyrighted music with visuals requires a sync license which is not usually available for less than several thousand dollars. Plus, the music you download (or buy) is licensed only for your in-home, car or personal player. You probably won't run into any problem, though, unless you have someone in the audience who chooses to cause you grief. I'm mentioning this because you are planning public presentations with this music which waves red flags.

I suggest getting royalty-free music to accompany your slide show. It is available from several sources on the Internet.

Thanks very much for your comments. You are absolutely right about the music issues -- I actually hadn't thought of that when I downloaded that music for the whopping 99 cent charge. VBG

I'll try the Motion Picture option. I haven't explored Toast much -- was hoping it was going to be soooo easy after dealing with iPhoto to iDVD to iMovie (all nice software but made my supposedly simple project waaaay too complicated for the dinky little non-profit slideshow I made).

Thanks again. (I doubt it will be my last question!!)
