error code 5001

jonahfish7

Question

After experiencing this problem consistantly with any disc I use or burner with Toast 7 and now 8, let me pose this question - does anyone out there using toast 7 or 8 burn dual layer discs without experiencing this problem?

Hey Roxio, can you post an answer to the frustration your users are experiencing?

I am also experiencing this error code (5001) I am using a MacBook Pro (FUJITSU Drive) and Verbatim DVD+R DL disks. Anyone knows why (as yet)?

I don't know. But have you tried by first Saving as a disc image and then burning that file to the DL disc using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window?

I have not had this experience when burning Verbatim DVD+R DL media. I've read posts where people who have this problem with other media are able to use the Verbatim media.

toast 8 is a piece of overhyped junk.....cant burn a single dvd

5001 errors are a firmware bug. Sony, Matsushita and Lite-on drives are really bad about this. Buy a Pioneer drive.

i have a pioneer drive and i get the same error code burning a dual layer dvd. it gets to the write out part and then it come up with that error.

Couldn't complete that last command because of a Mac OS error. result code = - 5001

Be sure to use Verbatim DVD+R DL media. It is the only one that seems to burn reliably in most drives.
