MyDVD Format CD, then DISK FULL

KGryfon

Question

Ok, I am very frustrated.

I am trying to create some CDs to copy pictures onto. I bought CD-RW disks. I put one in my CD burner on my PC. The PC asks if I want to format it. I say yes to a full format. It runs through the format process without error. I then try to copy and paste pictures to the CD and it says it's full. I go to My Computer and look at properties for the new CD and it says there is no empty space. I run Sonic's DigitalMedia LE v7 erase program on the CD. It runs, no errors. However, CD still shows as full and I cannot copy any files to it. I try a quick format. Same deal, no errors but disk is full.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

I have a NEC DVD+-RW ND6650A model CD/DVD drive. It shows that the hardware is functioning properly. I can read any CD or DVD I put in it.

What am I doing wrong?

If you are not starting DLA manually after you boot then it is starting when XP boots. There is a line in msconfig somewhere that pertains to it.It has to be there if it's starting at boot.I'm not sure what it's called but it's most probably there.

Other than that try and use whatever application in Sonic's suite that will write data discs.DO NOT format the disc.Just make a regular data disc with the pics as the data.

You say you're formatting the discs.MyDVD doesn't use formatted discs. The box coming up asking for formatting would usually be for some kind of Packet Wrting software (Nero's InCD,Roxio's Drag to Disc or Sonic's DLA).You should say no to formatting the disc and then try using it in MyDVD.

I'm going to take for granted you're running XP.

Go to Start,Run and type in msconfig.Hit enter. When the box comes up go to the Startup tab.Look down the list till you find the item referencing Sonic DLA and uncheck it.Reboot.

When you reboot and the box pops up tell it to disregard at next boot.

This will stop DLA from starting at bootup. Now try and see what happens.

If for some reason you feel compelled to use DLA then just open it from the Start menu.

I guess is Soinc DLA coming up witht he "do you want to format" question. I have tried to say No, but then I can't use the DVD. Eveytime I try to open it or copy to it, a new pop-up comes up asking if I want to format it. I've tried saying Yes to both the full and quick formating, with the same results.
