No drive detected

Hello, I had this same problem when I first installed EMC 9. Went through all the diagnostic processes listed above with no luck. On one of the news groups I found someone suggested removing the Drag & Drop feature of EMC. Worked like a charm. Right after rebooted my system Roxio detected both of my drives. Apparently the D&D feature causes the DVD/CD burner to appear as though it were in use so Roxio does not find any free devices.

Give it a try and see if it fixes your problem. :)

Is iot showing in Control Panel, System, Device Manager?

Usually you get an exe file to flash the firmware on the drive - seems odd that Samsung didn't include that.

You may find some info in the manual - you can download this from here

http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupp...M&language=

Just found this as well - an auto-update from Samsung

Their website is harder to navigate than finding a path across an Irish bog

Thank you for those sites I have book marked them for future use, I tried the auto update but there aren't any for my drive yet... or patches. I really think that the problem lies in the software... the problem is that Roxio came bundled with my pc and I don't have a disc to reinstall the program. Are there any other avenues I can try, that you could think of? Thank you for all of your time and work!

Hi, I'm new here, and I'm having the same problem with EMC9. On 3/3/07 I bought the LG 18x Multi DVD Rewriter model GSA-H42L. It is compatible with all CD/DVD formats and has Lightscribe. It worked fine for a couple days. For the past 3 days though, the bottom of the Roxio Home screen reads 'No Drive Detected'. My PC detects it as DVD-RAM Drive (E:), the drive plays CD's, DVD's, and it burns CD's through Windows Media Player, and VLC player as well. I cant tell if its my burner or not that isnt working properly. I've uninstalled it, unplugged it, and downloaded an update for my NVIDIA vid card. I cant find firmware for my drive. I'm about to return it for a new one if I cant find out whats wrong in a couple days. Does anyone else have this drive? It's pretty new. I'd really appreciate anyone's input.

If it came bundled, you probably have an OEM version and, normally the OEM is responsible for support. Can you vontact the maker and see if they have the software? You are supposed to have it, either as a backup partition or on separate discs

Try and run this program

Thanks, tbrewst. The program url you provided worked for my VISTA machine with Roxio Media Manager 9.1.072 that came bundled with my Blackberry Desktop Manager. I believe Roxio worked until I loaded iTunes. My problem was No Drive Detected by Roxio, yet Windows Media Player had no problem playing cds. I uninstalled iTunes, ran the program you provided (pxengine1_08_34a.exe) and then restarted my computer. Now, at least one time, Roxio does find my drive. I hope it will still find it after a shutdown and restart.
