Question

It would be great to just get a little support from Roxio when you need it. When I try to create a DVD using MyDVD from Sonic, I get a dialog box telling me I have to activate. Seems to be a needless step to me. Something not required by Nero. But, I click OK and wait. And wait and wait and wait. Dialog box says connecting to servers. Says this for a long, long time, but never connects. I click cancel and application closes. I go to HELP option and choose technical support. Get a dialog box with pretty picture of "Easy Media Creator 9" that wants me to "BUY NOW". Great technical support. Product is useless so far. Anyone know a way to contact Roxio Technical Support so I can start using this product?

I've got a whole other issue;

It goes like this

I go to the shop and order a computer custom built

► that's $3,300.00 please

► I specifically have it constructed so as to never be able to connect anything but the power sockets in my house, my printers and my USB drives and chips, that's it.

► It has no modem and no LAN and therefore no internet capabilities because there are freaks out there who will go out of their way to destroy yours and my data / OS / hardware etc. and until those freaks do not exist My computer will never go online.

► Now how do I activate a CD/DVD creating program which has nothing to do with the internet

(It's not a browser so it shouldn't even be going online).

► Why do I need to "Activate online before I can even use it?"

► just to add this isn't a rant but I would rather not have the unnecessary expense of the continuous updates to anti-virus anti-spy anti-whatever. just so I can activate a product. (at least M$ allows you to phone them to get a code).

►my last computers were 486's that I got in '97 they've never been online, never had a virus and when I turn them on today they still work.

I'm just curious, how did you get online to this forum if your computers don't have an internet connection?

I know I'm going way off course when I add that if you worry about what happens on the internet (you have that right of course), then you miss out on a huge chunk of what makes computers wonderful. You can't let yourself worry about everything that might happen or you'll never venture out doors because the guy that works in the next cubicle will kill you if you sneeze.

My wish is that no software would have to be activated but we know that it only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch!

How I get onto the internet is at work on a work computer not my home computer(s)

my job entails the creation of audio CD's (pre-mastering and burning) but I'm not allowed to do personal projects at work which is why I bought a newer computer so I can do my personal recording projects and that's the only reason I bought it, I still do all my other computing on my 486 win3.1 machines because they don't have the bloat introduced since win95 (that's all of my accounting; invoicing; etc. that I do on the 486's).

as far as worrying about this an that

It's the same as taking the bus instead of driving

If you drive you're in control of the vehicle (computer no internet)and don't have any weirdos sitting/standing next to you

If You take the bus/train to save gas (computer w/internet)

You have to put up with all kinds of weirdos & bums etc.

You may have a firewall or something else blocking it from cennecting to the activation server. If you go to the section of these boards labeled Activation, take a look at and try the manual activation post.
