Copying Video Files with Creator

Cold Steel

Question

I have non-encrypted vido files that I want to copy to DVD. I prefer to use Classic Creator, but I get a message telling me to use Disc Copier. I know about the work-around, renaming the folder VIDEO_TS once the files are in a new folder, but the DVDs don't work when placed into a DVD player. Disc Copier won't work, so I have to use Classic Creator. Can someone give me a detailed instruction for doing this? (I'm currently using version 6, but would like to use version 9).

BTW, does version 9 work okay under OS Vista? Just curious.

You can try using Creator Classic. I think you have to manually choose UDF as the files system.

Gary is correct.

In Classic you need to set the Project Properties to UDF, No Bridge. And you want to make sure after you click Burn that you are set for Read Only.

Keep in mind we are dealing with Computer – Optical Media – Players… So while this always works for me, does not mean it is going to work for every possible combination out there…

Thanks, but Disc Copier won't let me select the file types, which are VOB, BUP, and IFO. It was shot by a videographer and delivered unencrypted on a single DVD. We copied it to hard disk and now the DVD is missing. I've tried using Disc Copier, but can't seem to select the files or do anything with them. And when I do use Creator Classic, the disc won't play in anything but a computer. (I set it to ISO 9660 with no bridge.)

I don't often copy discs, but I do copy files quite often. For this reason I leave Classic Creator up most of the time.

Sounds like you are using Disc Copier 'video compilation'.

Run Disc Copier

Click the CD/DVD Copy tab

In the SOURCE list, select 'Browse for Disc Image OR DVD-VIDEO FOLDER'

In the left pane, select that folder and the movie should show up in the right pane. NOT THE FILES - THE MOVIE

Click OK

In the destination, select the DVD burner and insert a blank

Click COPY NOW

I do it all the time and it works fine.

What file types are those non-encrypted video files? What is the source?

"Disc Copier won't work?" -- What kind of error are you getting?

Why are you using Creator Classic to burn a video DVD? Disc Copier is much easier.

Launch Disc Copier

For Source, point it to the video_ts folder

For Destination, select the drive

Click COPY NOW

So what part of that is not working for you in Disc Copier?

Hmmm. I select the folder and hit "okay," but nothing happens. It just sits there and stares at me. It's 22 minutes since I hit the "okay" button and still no response.

Thank you for your responses. This is something that's been giving me problems for some time.
