Shelly1
Hi all, I'm new here so apologies first off, I'm sure that this is a problem that's been discussed many times. I've suddenly started to get problems running my AVG software. After downloading V7.5 I was advised that my Roxio 6 would cause problems and haven't been able to update ever since. I've tried in vain to obtain the driver updates from this site but it doesn't seem to want to download them. All I get when I click download is that it returns me to the version selection screen. Can anyone help ? Thanks. Michelle
lynn98109
You say you have EMC 7.5. You don't say you have ECD/DVDC 6. It is a problem AVG has with false positives - check this older thread - http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=377 Lynn
Larry
Lynn, I think Michelle was saying they downloaded AVG 7.5, not EMC 7.5, so hopefuly that thread will still help her. If not, try using the search function for the v 6 boards for AVG. Hi all, I'm new here so apologies first off, I'm sure that this is a problem that's been discussed many times. Guest ml
downloaded AVG 7.5, not EMC 7.5, I just spend an hour trying to get my neighbors computer to install the free version AVG 7.5 properly. She'd already tried it herself a few times and kept getting strange error messages. There's something 'buggy' in the new AVG 7.5 installation process. I had to uninstall AVG 7.1, delete her original download installation file of AVG 7.1, empty the recycle bin, restart the computer, download the installation file of the free AVG 7.5, install AVG 7.5, restart the computer, then reinstall/ REPAIR AVG 7.5 and restart the computer to get the silly thing working properly. That's odd! I've got both free and paid version of AVG 7.5 and I have to say, nothing, virus software wise, has ever been this easy. I do know that you have to remove earlier versions as 7.5 was updated to work with Vista so I assume it's changed a good deal so that it can work with XP and Vista. lynn98109
The Win2000 came with AVG 7.1 on it, and I wanted to put on the Norton System Works 2005 (includes Anti-Virus) I'd gotten for the computer. So Norton insisted AVG had to go, and it went. And I haven't had any problems with it Seriously, I've been leery of AVG Free since it reported Roxio ECDC 5 as a Virus. True, Microsoft's One-Care was rated low because it can't find Viruses that testing companies are testing it against (altho One-Care has had numerous reports of deleting email as a Virus). AVG has certainly done better than Microsoft. But I remain leery of it. Lynn
