Can DVDit v6 do multiple camera angles?

MattAlbright

Question

Hello! I am a MyDVD v9 user and I am trying to put together a DVD of a band's reunion show. However, I just found out two nights ago that someone else and his son were there videotaping as well. Now we've decided to work together and share our video with each other, and I'd like to upgrade to something that would allow me to pull in the video from all three camcorders, sync it up, and then edit it into one video stream.

I don't necessarily need to do multiple angles with the Angle button on my remote, though it would be pretty cool to do a song or two that has that capability. Not important though! :)

I could make fantastic DVDs with my old MyDVD v6 before I upgrade to v9 a few days ago. I'm still re-learning everything that I used to know how to do with v6, and haven't even gotten around to figuring out the new features. Can anyone tell me if DVDit v6 can handle mixing three video sources into one, or do I need something else for that?

Thanks!

Matt

honestly, myDVD 9 is better at the task that you are proposing than DVDit 6. I think MyDVD has the editing capability of VideoWave which should let you bring in multiple clips and edit them together. Probably not an easy task to do, but should be possible. DVDit is an authoring program and doesn't have that editing capability. DVDit also can not handle multiple angles. The only programs that can in its price range are DVD Lab and DVD Studio Pro...neither of which is an editing program for seamlessly cutting together 3 video pieces into one.

I am pretty certain that MyDVD v9 can only do multiple audio tracks, but not multiple video tracks. There's nothing helpful in the manual relating to it, so I can only assume that it's not possible. Of course, the same could be said for the "Split/Divide" function, which took me hours to figure out that that feature still existed in MyDVD v9. I actually had to go to an online tutorial that someone posted to figure out the secret to splitting video. But if you go to the Help file and search for Split or Divide, nothing comes up as a topic.

I am probably not supposed to mention competitors' products, but I am at a competitor's website right now looking at a package thing that is pretty expensive, but would certainly give me enough to learn and work with. I've always used Sonic/Roxio products though, so if there's something that's available for multiple video sources, I'd gladly check it out.

Thanks!

Matt

EMC 9 does offer multiple video tracks in VideoWave (the video production piece). I'm not saying it will be better than whatever expensive other software you are looking at will be, but you could try the trial version of EMC 9 and see for yourself.

Matt - since you have only owned EMC9 for a few days, perhaps you should give it some more time and throughly look over it's features.

Videowave 9 has one MAIN video track and you can 'turn on' 5 overlay tracks for a total of 6 video tracks. Plus there are several text tracks and video special effects tracks. You need to switch to the Timeline mode to see these tracks.

The most difficult part would be syncing the audio of all three. I did a video for my nephew's garage band using only two camcorders. Decide which has the best audio and use that for the main track. Then the other videos would be placed on the overlay tracks. I used visual clues like the stage lights or the drummer to help sync the audio. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on the project, but the end results will look darn near professional. ;)
