Roxann (sis)
Everytime I would click 'my computer'>'C' drive, after installing Nero cd that came with Sony DRX-830U external drive, I'd get the Fatal Error:Installation corrupted-please reinstall Nero. So, I unzipped Nero's Clean Tool & uninstalled ALL of Nero...now, everything works great. My question: do I have to install Nero to utilize my new Sony drive? Since I have EMC 8, won't that allow me to burn cd/dvd to Sony drive? Beerman
Well, this isn't a Nero forum but I will say that no, your drive will work with other burning programs provided it's recognized properly by Windows. Even though it's new, you should check to see if there are updated drivers for your burner.

As far as the problem with Nero, did you have both EMC 8 Drag to disk and Nero Incd installed. If so, that was probably the problem. Two packet writing programs of any software manufacturers do not get along.
REDWAGON
"My question: do I have to install Nero to utilize my new Sony drive?" To answer your question directly, NO, you don't have to install Nero. I have had several different Sony DVD drives and they all came with some wetted down version of Nero, and I have never installed any of them. However, The drives have all worked great. Suggested answers regarding Packet writing is most likely your problem. Frank...

Believe me I have bought many lately, the 810A and the 810A-R are really BenQ 1640 and 1650. If I send you postage, would you send me those watered down Neros? cd

REDWAGON
"....would you send me those watered down Neros?" (cd) So far I have several people that are on my "hit" list to get one of these Nero watered down programs to and I don't have you on my hit list, so you're out of luck . I think I have 4 copies of them and as I remember some of them are different versions, depending on when I bought the Sony drives. Frank...
