updated to vista premium

Question

I just updated to vista premium. I had emc8 and emc 9 installed on my xp computer. After the upgrade, emc 8 would open, but emc 9 gave me a message "your trial period has expired". I thought I would simply re-install emc 9, but got the message saying it was already installed on my computer. Is there an upgrade to 'vista version'? Any help is appreciated.

No, v9 should work with Vista with the exception of a problem with Drag to Disc. You're best bet now is to completely uninstall following the info posted here.

Actually, I think MS made a mistake even offering upgrades as, just like in XP, upgrading leaves too many openings for problems to start or old problems to get worse. You really should wipe the drive and start over.

There is only one v 9 and it is basically Vista compatible. As is typical with MS OS upgrades (rather than a clean install of the new OS), it tends to mess up existing programs. Your best bet is to do a "Clean Install" per the knowledge base articles. That should clear it up usually. Oh, and remember do not install v 8, it isn't Vista compatible.

It would appear you were just a bit quicker than I on the keyboard Paul

Thanks for the information. I followed it to the LETTER and it all worked. In reading these forums it seems most of it is complaints, so I thought a 'thanks' is the least I can do.
