Trail version expired but I paid full price from Roxio and registered this

Gig A.

Question

:angry2: I purchased Creator 9 right from Roxio a few weeks ago. I installed this version #9 on 3.7.07, a complete installation. Upon installing it successfully, I registered this software before I started using it.

I used it ok up until this morning (3.14.07) When I try and open it either thru the shortcut on my desktop or start/all programs/roxio easy media creator 9/home. I get this error message:

The trial version of this prodcut has expired

I paid full price for this product directly from Roxio and also registered this full purchased copy!!

PLEASE help me get this corrected asap

Thank you

George A.

We aren't Roxio and we don't know why this is happening. All we do know is it looks very likely that Windoctor is the culprit and is deleting a registry key. Why this should happen we simply don't know - maybe someone at Symantec could answer this.

Hi

I don't have Norton, I have McAffee Security Suite. After re-installing it is still working but don't know for how long....waiting with braited breath.

I have not heard a thing from Roxio, it seems after they take your money, you're on your own and it's down to members of the forum to help one another out...basicly they don't give a stuff!!!!

It's so annoying because I really like RecordNow 9 but I will certainly never buy another product from them

Hi

After reading the posts here about the trial period expiring you have all frightened the life out of me. :o

I have RecordNow9 Music Lab which I paid for (download version) and I have received the same message about trial period expiring. I read all the technical stuff that you were told to do and I really don't understand it at all  ....I'm not computer literate and I don't know anyone that understands computers. Because I don't understand I am worried that I may mess my computer up, is that the only thing to do to correct it? I don't have a disc that I can use to re-install the program.....any suggestions please

Paul, Thanks for your quick response! I did the repair and that didn't work...

I ended up calling tech support and they sent me a list of things to do (about a hours worth)! it's working fine now.

Thanks again.

I am having the same issue, could you please post the list of things that Roxio support told you to do? I am very interested in getting this software to work.

Thanks

Matt

McAffee Security is another one that does this. I will search for the post, because I have, and use WinDoctor, and it caused the problem with EMC 9 Deluxe, but not with EMC 9.

It took me awhile to find it. Here it is:

I had the EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE!! There are emails flying all around about this. The program is so large that it isn't very easy to reinstall. There simply isn't any "quick" way to do it.

This software is subject to a MAJOR bug. Roxio is doing squat about it. I have contacted tech support with NO results. NO reply.

This is hogwash. Crap. If I had it to do over again, I would have bought someone else's product. A shame, because their older stuff worked well.

And just for the benefit of anybody else tuning in, you cannot exactly predict when it will decide that it is the "trial" version.

Hell, I NEVER had the trial version.

You could try downloading it again - there is a set limit on downloads tho, but it is more than one. I'd recommend that you try to copy the download to a XCD - that way you always have it.

Once there, you can re-install any number of times

Hi

Thanks for replying to me...I have just un-installed and re-installed RecordNow 9 Music Lab and it has opened ok  ....don't know how long it will last though  . Can you tell me how I can copy the download to a cd please....as I've said before I am quite a novice on the computer.

Thanks

Which OS are you running, XP or Vista? It doesn't look like the poster came back after he posted that message so we haven't been able to learn what it was he did that was successful.

Just to keep everyone updated to the trial version expired error message I was getting. I was the one who started this whole topic/discussion.

I did a clean install almost 3 weeks ago using these instructions I received from Roxio Tech Support:

The program will issue the warning that it is a trial version which has expired if Norton One Button checkup is used and one allows it to repair our .dll files. Use the following to clean install.

Please follow the clean install instructions provided in our knowledge base.

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000086CR

I also had Norton System Works doing that One Button Checkup they talked about and disabled it before I did that last clean install using the above instructions.

2 1/2 weeks later NO trial error message!! Hope this helps others.

Regards,

George

It would be very helpful if you cost post what tech support told you what to do so that it may save others the time of a phone call.

Sorry I couldn't help but glad you got it sorted out.

No.

Well this time the software worked for 4 days before displaying the "Trial has expired error".

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I followed all of the steps outlined in the above posts and the software seemed to work fine for 4 days and then nothing.

This time i uninstalled IE7 and media player 10, which seemed to be the ticket but i guess not.

I am getting very tired of this $100 software thinking its expired

Have you used any tool or utility program like Norton Windoctor?

You can use the built in windows session writing software to drag it to a blank CD - that should give you a backup

I'm sorry seeming stupid but where do I find the windows session writing software....I have done a search on the computer but nothing comes up

Thank you so much. I followed the instructions in the Help & Support but it kept saying c drive was unaccesible but I got round it by right clicking Roxio in program files and just clicked send to, and it worked :D I put the disc back in and all the folders for Roxio were there, not worked out how I would re-install them (if needed) but I guess I can always ask your help again lol....watch this space!!!!

Thanks again

I have the same problem "trial version expired" although I paid for full version at Best Buy. This is the 2nd time. The first time I uninstalled and reinstalled and it has worked for 1 week. But again today 4-2-07, it's back to the error message. Before I go through all the steps that I have read below. Can anyone report back that these steps have wored for several weeks or a month or so? I really don't want to have to do all that if it doesn't work. I appreciate the help and testimonials.

Thanks, Stac

Have you read post #26? Have you used Norton WinDoctor or similar program recently? It appears some of these programs remove a registry key that causes this.

I'm pretty sure all the posts regarding Norton WinDoctor being the possible culprit are true. I copied my registry before WinDoctor ran on my machine. I made sure I could open Creator 9 Deluxe before WinDoctor ran. After WinDoctor ran I got the "The Trial Version of this Product Has Expired" message. I imported my copied registry into the registry and was able to open Creator 9 Deluxe with no problems - no re-install required. This worked for me. I don't recommend this as a general solution to anyone but me. If you want to try this it is at your own risk. Anytime you fool with the registry problems can occur.
