Multiple Titles Per Dvd Dl

nalani001

Question

Aloha one and all.

I have a few DL DVDs for burning and would like to copy more than one title to them but not quite sure how to do that. What it is is that a friend of mine allows me to borrow her originals of documentaries to use during my class. She has several that are 'series' and each of the DVDs are well below 4GB. I thought I should just burn them onto a DVD DL so to use less media. The problem is, I'm not sure how to do that and I really don't want to waste a DV DVD (here in Hawai'i, they're hella expensive). This is what I'm thinking.

Can I copy the video and audio ts files from the original to the Data folder (DVD-ROM UDF checked) for the first DVD, then do the same for the second after changing the name of the audio and video ts files (like to video2_ts). Would that work?

It's a lot of bother just to save on the number of DVDs burned. Doing this also is easier with Toast 7 than 6 but I'll try to explain how to do it with Toast 6.

I'm presuming these DVDs are not copy protected. Drag the VIDEO_TS folder from each DVD to your hard drive. Now drag each of those folders to the Toast Video window. You'll get a warning that some of the files aren't accepted. That's good, so just click okay. Also, you may get one or more zero-second-long titles showing in the Video window. Select and delete them so that all you have left in the window is what you want on your DVD.

You'll want to edit the text for the titles so they make some sense to you. Now choose Save as Disc Image from the File menu. When the image file is completed, select it using the Image File setting in the Copy window and burn your DL DVD. You can skip the DL image file step and burn the DVD from the Video window, but that increases the risk that you could make a coaster of your DL disc.

You're right .. it's a lot of bother just to save the number of DVDs to burn :) ... thanks for the info though. When I have time (and courage), I'll give it a shot. Hehehehe
