DVD Compatability

Neesa

Question

Just wondering if the Roxio CD/DVD creator software, once a project is complete, (copied & burned) will play on any, or most home DVD players.

Essentially I want to create both slide shows with music, titles, etc....plus have the ability to burn home movies and the like to watch on my home player or a friends.

I'm not very knowledgable in this area so your help will be greatly appreciated.[/size]

Wouldn't be worth any price if it didn't.

Truth is, not all players will play every disc well. It's best to use the brand the dvd player recommends but I do dvd's for family members and we all have different players and rarely is there a problem.

For the most part, you get what you pay for.....cheap media usually means trouble.

Thanks very much, very helpful!

I burn DVDs for a group of people and most DVD players can play the DVDs. If a player won't play a +R, I just exchange it for a -R.

I do find that if I burn to an 'image file' (.iso) rather than the DVD burner and then use Disk Copier to burn multiple DVDs from that 'image file', they seem to play on more DVD players.

If your DVD burns correctly and it won't play on a set top DVD player, it's not the program that's the problem. Most likely the player is not capable of playing the media type that was used to burn the DVD. I have made many DVD's using + and - R media and have only had one experience where the player would not play the DVD. The media I used was DVD+R and the player (after checking the player specs) was only capable of playing DVD-R's.

So if your computer hardware is correct for the EMC version you are using to produce your DVD (Start by using "VIDEOWAVE" to produce the slide show and then depending on the version of EMC you have, open DVDBuilder (Versions 7) or "MyDVD" for 8 and 9 to burn your DVD) and it burns O.K. you will probably not have any problems with a set top player.
