If I Buy Emc 8, As Online Download....

johnream

Question

If I buy EMC 8, as online Download.... will it be the 8.05 update ? (released Dec 5 2005). I noticed under Software updates that ALL the updaters only work for the CDROM Retail version. Does this mean that if we purchase online we can never get updates as they become available, or does the software somehow allow for updating.

Why are they different :)

As you can imagine, some early discs were sent to stores even before the official release of the product. Roxio continued to work to fix some of the problems later found and were able to update the downloadable version. If you buy the download, you will get the 8.05 build - the same as the updated disc version with the upgrade. Those early discs are the ones that need the update.

BTW, if you do decide to purchase the online way, keep in mind that there will be 2 large files you need to download. One os for the main program install, the second is for all the additional content install. Also carefully read the download information, as there are limits to how long the download purchase is available. You will want to make sure you have a way to keep backup copies of the 2 files.

As just an addon to larrys comments, the files that you to download are :

RoxioEMCSuitev8.05_efisd.exe (Approx. 453 Mb in Size)

RoxioEMCContentCDv8.05_efisdj.exe (Approx. 220 Mb In Size)

And then you also need to make sure you give an email address that you know email gets to,

as they will send the all important CDKEY to that address....

I personaly would get the download version as iv found very little issues, and seen lots here with the boxed version, but again that is only my thoughts.....

Have fun...
