unable to load skin

unable to load skin

Question

We have Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 and Windows XP

Downloaded program on 12/20/07...attempted to use it in Feb...didn't work...couldn't copy disc...got Buffer Runtime Error message...did troubleshooting...when rebooted my computer froze up...eventually called Dell and they were able to get the program off my computer... (couldn't get my money back, either)

Talked to Roxio and Digital River (MANY times) to obtain permision to download the program for which we paid $116...PERMISSION? Anyway, on 3/1/07 attempted to download again...but program still not working (when choosing to copy disc to disc).

Today (3/16) I went to the Roxio support page (for umpteenth time) and accidently found a page that said there was a fix for the Buffer Runtime Error...ran the fix...then managed to copy a disc to disc.

BUT when my husband attempted to open videowave (which is the reason we upgraded to 9 so we could have the video capabilities) he got the Buffer Runtime Error again AND he also got the message "unable to load skin". WHAT THE???? I went to the support site again and when I typed in unable to load skin, I received the message that there was no such thing.

So now what? I can't get my money back and I can't get the program to work. We have more than enough system requirements on our computer...made sure of that before we purchased it. I would rather go back to version 7...or perhaps Nero! That's a very expensive icon on my desktop!!

Anyone else unable to load their skin?? :o

I had that error only once. I had done a lot of editing on a video with changes and then trying to go back to the original and then another change. Adding music, changing that etc. That message popped up. Since I had been saving changes frequently under two different project names, I simply shut don the program and the computer. When I rebooted, I did a simple cleaning of my hard drive for junk file (temp and tmp), checked for malware and then defragged. I never got that message again.

Sorry, that was a long way around to say save project frequently and make sure you are working with a clean and defragged hard drive.

I also know of one person who had that problem with loading Norton Anti-virus removal tool. Removing that program from that computer using Windows, Add or Remove programs fixed the problem.

Since you found this forum, you will find helps on all kinds of issues. I used the search function on the top of this page and typed in "unable to load skin" and got all a lot of results.See if there is anything that will help you in those results if the above doesn't fix the problem.
