No Buttons on DVD produced

rjg

Question

It would seem that when a new title is added, a button to initiate play would also be added? On competitive products, I can change button shape, color, music etc. but in EMC 7, I see only the music choice. What am I missing or overlooking?

There is not an update, as such. About 2 years ago, Roxio had a complete new download of the downloaded version, on their website. It was a free download for all registered users of the downloaded version.

I don't know if it is still available. Contact Customer Service, and see if it is still available. It was a complete new version of what you have.

Have not contacted them about update, but I did uninstall IE7 and it rolled back to IE6 after which V7 of EMC works very well. Thanks to both Gurus for your valuable help....Greatly, greatly appreciated.

You are welcome, but you should still try to get that updated version. It fixed some problems with the version that you have. I believe that one of them was being able to rename chapters.

You did not mention what version of v7 nor which specific program within the suite you are using???

Also note that IE7 and WMP11 are known to break V7.

Button missing problem. Version is 7.0.430.0 ENU and module is DVD Builder. Have used V7 extensively for capture and label creation, but used Showbiz and MyDVD to produce the video. Showbiz now records sound as a screech so am turning to Roxio to try to do the burning portion, but am unfamiliar with its tools for burn operations. The DVD I did burn has only a changed background and the word description of a church concert. It plays on a separate TV/DVD player, but there is no button on it to trigger its use in a computer drive. It just sits there and plays its intro music.

It is difficult to produce a move with Builder that doesn't have at least 1 menu button!

It appears you have the original version and have never update it. 7.1.189 is the last update for V7. (there is a 7.5.2.49 but you had to Buy that upgrade separately)

If I am reading between the lines correctly you were using other software but it has failed. Now you have reverted to v7 and it is not working correctly either… What concerns me is that there are other problems with your PC that have to be corrected first before anything is going to work!

Reading other posts...especially concerning IE7...that may be the problem. I still have WMC 10, but have long since dumped IE6 for IE7. Hard to imagine that a browser could mess up an application having but little to do with the internet? I guess I could just update to V9. With all the mergers and buyouts, I get confused as to who owns and sells what at this time.

Updates: When I seek updates from within Roxio, 'it' tells me that none are available. I will try to go to Roxio site and find the download you mentioned...the one just before 7.5 which I understand is a pay upgrade.

As to a fault with the computer, I think I have isolated the sound skreech to a recently developed fault with the Showbiz software since Roxio records sound very well on the same computer. It is just that with nothing but words on the screen facade of the DVD, I can't click on anything to make it play. It plays fine on the DVD player of my TV since there it does not need a mouse click to start it.

The bold text above is your problem. Roll back to IE 6, or you aren't going to solve your problem.

For your update, go here: It is only for the Retail (boxed) version of EMC 7, though.

Update did not work because mine is a downloaded version...not one purchased at a physical store, but purchased from the company at their website. I do not see a link/etc. to update v 7.0.430.0 unless it is a box version. How is this possible? You can update it if purchased at a store, but not if obtained directly from them?

I will try roll back to IE6....assuming I need to uninstall IE7 and then go to MS to find a place from which to install IE6 again.

From what I understand, it is the installation of IE7 that is the culprit and not the active use of it. Mostly I use FoxFire or FireFox whatever...

Subsequently found in the knowledge base how to "roll back" to IE6 by using Add & Remove Programs.
