Try updating to Toast 8.0.1 and see if that works.

I did, but it does not recognize the format, so it sayeth. But that's crazy... Sound Designer II files are industry standard. It even says in the manual that these files are accepted.

Any other solutions??

I've never had any problem opening .sd2f files in Toast, so I share your bewilderment. Could there be a hidden file extension after the .sd2f file name? When you choose Get Info in the Finder how does it describe the file?

A couple ways I've opened these in Toast are simply to drag them to the Audio window with Audio CD selected as the format, or also to drag them to the Copy window in which case Toast automatically switched to the Audio window to display the tracks. There also is using the Toast It contextual menu in the Finder.

Maybe the file is corrupted. I don't know because I haven't encountered anyone with this issue before.

Even .sd2 files are rejected. The file isn't corrupt. If I change it to .img (forcing Toast to accept it), then the image can be burned and played --- but without ID's, which is unacceptable.

My sound engineer created the .sd2f file in Toast 6. Does this matter??

I just did a test where I created a .Sd2f file in Toast 6. Next I control-clicked on it in the Finder and chose Toast It. Toast 8.0.1 launched and the contents of the .Sd2f file appeared in the Audio window under the Audio CD format, as expected.

Yours should work. Have your engineer make an archive of the .Sd2f file and transfer that .zip file to your Mac.

Thank you tsantee. Then there is no reason this file should not work. It is beyond me. Perhaps it is corrupted in some way.

Thanks for taking the time to run that test. Most grateful to you.
