HELP: Should I Buy EMC 9 Deluxe Suite?

Just purchased a new Dell laptop for the kids and added a DVD burner so I could finally get to the task of transferring all of my old family video tapes to DVD.

 

I've read through threads at a number of forums regarding transfer hardware and software compatability for Vista and am thinking I SHOULD wait a few months before trying to start the video upload/conversion. I am impatient to get started though.

 

My question is - Should I buy EMC 9 Deluxe Suite with the dazzle convertor? I was hoping to be able to just plug something in, download the software, and get to work. I am not intimidated by minor "patch" repair and such but don't want to buy/install something that is going to screw up the kids' new computer.

 

Any advice would be appreciated immensely.

Thanks. How would I know if I am running an x86 system (from the dazzle drivers thread posted at top of forum)?

It depends on what version of the OS you are running.Is it a 64 bit version of Vista?You need to have a 64 bit processor in your computer to run it.

You can download EMC9 as a demo and see if it works for you.If it does there are Vista drivers for the Dazzle posted at the top of this forum.
