Question

After I record a tape or LP I try to use the cleaning tap. I always get "roxio has encounterd a problem and needs to close sorry for etc...." If I don't use this tab every thing works fine. except it can hear the noise from the tape or turntable. It start this in version 7 and has continued when I upgraded to version 9 Help

Since you have seen the problem in both V7 and V9, I would suggest that the problem could be your sound card or sound card drivers.

Try to see if there are any updated drivers for your sound device.

Also, Go to Windows, Start, Run, Type in dxdiag, OK, when the program opens go to the audio and sound tabs and do the tests there. Did it test properly?

If you have done the above and it isn't fixed, try increasing or decreasing the audio acceleration. This sometimes helps when the music of a video is distorted. I don't know if that will help but no harm in trying.

I have had the same problem with EMC9, but without using the clean tab. After completing the track, when I try to continue, I get the error and lose the tracks. Does not happen with EMC8, so I've been using that instead. EMC9 seems to be created to keep techies like me on our toes with all its bugs.

Hey thanks for the help. I tried the drivers and dxdiag to no avail. I will probably have to get a new sound card. The one I have is a creative SB live about 5 years old. Thanks again for all your help

I have read some posts saying that EMC 8 and EMC 9 don't get along, when both are installed. I have EMC 9 and EMC 7.5 and have not had problems.
