mhstudio1701
Can anyone tell me why when burning a video DVD, on play back, the first chapter is skipped? It is there because I can scan/reverse/search backward to the beginning of first chapter or disc. Any solutions?
mhstudio1701
When doing Movie Only you need DVD2oneX to deal with the zero cells in the Video_TS file that you have. Toast or Popcorn can't do that on Movie Only. I'm sure this problem has happen on the "All Movie" setting as well as the "Movie Only" setting, so not sure this is the solution to the problem, but you may be right. tsantee
Describe the steps you used to burn the disc. What was the source video? What brand of media and what drive was used to burn the disc? Does it skip to the second chapter when played on the Mac.
mhstudio1701
I like to backup my favorite DVD movies. This seems to be happening more on the most recent DVD movies. I drag my VIDEO_TS folder, which is on my desktop, into the VIDEO_TS Toast 7 window. I use Sony DVD-R discs and use a Lacie 16X DVD +/- RW DL drive. The first chapter hangs on any player or computer drive I play it on. When I advance to the 2nd chapter button and beyond, it plays fine. It just hangs on the first chapter/title sequence 'til I hit the chapter button.
mhstudio1701
Sorry about asking so many questions. Did Toast need to use its Fit-to-DVD feature with your DVD copies? Did you use a movie-only option in Toast or did you keep the original DVD menu? Also, was the disc ripped with a full-disc extraction? You wrote: Did Toast need to use its Fit-to-DVD feature with your DVD copies? >No. You wrote: Did you use a movie-only option in Toast or did you keep the original DVD menu? >Most of the time I do movie-only. A few times I've kept the original DVD menu and it has still happened.

Because it is happening when choosing the full movie option then I'm stumped as for a reason. You have the original menu and that menu should send you to the start of the movie. I don't know how it could do anything else. When playing the ripped VIDEO_TS with DVD Player does this problem occur? Does it occur when playing the burned DVD on your Mac? I'm wondering if using a different brand of media might help.
