Edit tags on multiple tracks?

Guitar55

Question

I have a large WAV file that I am preparing to burn to CD. I am setting track markers in Sound Editor and would like to either edit tags of multiple tracks at once (artist, album, genre) or set a default value. You would think that the app would at least automatically fill in the track number! or give the info from the previous track as a default.

The help center references editing mutliple tracks at once, but I can't figure out how to do it. I searched the Fourm also, with no luck.

Thanks,

Dennis

In sound editor, if you started with a single file (which would be listed as the entry under clips), and added track markers within it to create the tracks (each of which get listed under tracks), if you edit the tag for the clip, all the tracks inherit the entries you place there. So you can set album, artist and genre for the clip, and all the tracks will have those tags. Obviously for entries such as title and track number, that differ for each track, you have to edit each track separately. I agree with you that it would be nice if it would fill the track numbers automatically when a large clip is cut into several tracks, but as you would want to edit the song title for each track separately any way, or order them differently when subsequently creating an Audio CD, it is perhaps a moot point.

Alternatively you can export the tracks, then in Windows Explorer you can select multiple tracks, right click, click edit song information and edit the tag information that they have in common; those that differ on the tracks will show '(multiple values)' which you can, of course edit also if you wish (though that would not be sensible for song title or track number, of course).

Automatically fill in the track number for a split .wav file? Really? I wouldn't expect that to be the case, but you can fill in the information yourself.
