robinhr
I am in the process of converting from Windows 98 to Windows XP. I have Adaptec Easy CD Creator Version 3.5 (it came with my HP Pavilion PC) and have had no problems up to this point. I am now getting the message "There are currently no supported CD Recorders available. Please ensure that your CD Recorder is available and that all cables are properly connected." Nothing has changed as far as cables are concerned. I still need to copy data from the PC and want to put it on a CD-ROM. Since my HP Installation disk doesn't work, I actually scoured the Internet looking for the installation software and finally found it. (I had uninstalled the software after getting a different error message that the wnaspi32.dll could not be loaded - This may have been caused by downloading and installing Nero which is too complicated). Okay so how can I correct this latest problem so that I can actually burn CD's. Thanks for your help, Robin

Thanks for your help, Robin Look at the very first post at the top of the main ECDC 4 forum, it sez Pinned: ECDC Vs Win XP.......read it. You could you use the CD writing program contained in XP (if that meets your needs).

Thanks for your help, Robin Actually, not only does ECDC 4 not work with WinXP, neither does anything older than ECDC 4. You need to get the pieces out. First use add/remove to remove it, then use roxizap to zap the rest of it. http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe (NOTE: if you ARE using Roxio (Now Symantec) GoBack 3, unistall before and reinstall afterward.) If after unstalling ECDC from WinXP or Win2000 your burners have disappeared, or you are getting a messge the drive is in use by "null", it is a filters problem. To avoid this problem: first use add/remove, THEN use roxizap. This is something we have discovered the hard way, sorry. This is the relevant general info from the Microsoft Knowledge Base: for Win2000 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q270008 For WinXP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/EN-US/ Once you have your burners back, use the built-in WinXP burning system for data CDs or music CDs, or update to a burning program that is compatible with WinXP. EMC 7, 7.5, and 8 are compatible, altho if you aren't plannilng to make DVDs they may be more than you want. Lynn
