DVD builder will not create an iso image

Rayi

Question

Hello. I originally had problems launching DVD builder from Videowave, so I uninstalled Internet Explorer 7, as well as WinMedia Player 11. I was then able to launch DVD builder from Videowave but now DVD builder will not create an iso image. It does try and get's about half way through but then I get the message that "DVD builder has encountered a problem and needs to close". I am running WinXP pro, 512mb ram, video card is nothing special and has 64mb, Athlon palomino 1900+. I also have another computer which is running Roxio 9 but I want to get Roxio 7.5 working on this computer particular computer. Any ideas appreciated. thanks

I had this problem before too. One of the files I was trying to use was corrupt somehow. It would work when I tried playing it but when using DVD builder the file caused the same problem you described. Its a long process but try removing one or 2 of the file and try it. Eventually i found the corrupt file and excluded it and it worked fine.

Hope this helps

Since you made your production in VideoWave, you can check to see if there is something wrong with the production itself that is making it impossible to make the .iso file.

Open your VideWave production. Choose, File\ Output production to...... choose Video file for DVD authoring \Best.

The program will attempt to output the file as an .mpeg file to DVD standards. If the program 'freezes', the timecode under the render window will screen stop and it will be around that time when there is a problem in the storyline.

Just to end this particular discussion. I had to completely reinstall Windows XP before I could get it to work. I had some other issues, so I decided to just redo WinXP. It works fine now. I blame IE 7 for creating problems in more ways than one. Amazing how MS can screw things up. I just was able to complete a DVD to compare it to Roxio 9 regarding some bad sound issues. Seems those bad sound issues in certain popular music videos do not occur in Roxio 7.5.

He means a repair on EMC 7, not Windows XP.

The repair of EMC 7.5 did not work. I also did a complete reinstall, which did not work either. I have done lots of work on EMC 7.5 with the same processor but I switched boards and video cards. I know of another person that is having similar problems. I have Roxio 9 on another computer but it is so slow and buggy; although, I do use it because it has some useful additions. So I don't know what to do about it.

Have you tried running a Repair on your install?

I have done lots of work on EMC 7.5 with the same processor but I switched boards and video cards.

Now that's new information.......More information about the video card, please. The program relies on the video card when it's rendering the video.

You've defragmented your hard drive, right?

In the meantime, try this troubleshooting step..... If you've made your video in VideoWave, do a File\ Output project to.... choose Video File for DVD Authoring\ Best. ( If you made it in DVD Builder, follow my tip at the top of the page to get it into VideoWave.)

If there is something wrong with the storyline, the program will stop at around the time there is a problem. ( Some of the transitions won't work with some video cards. )

If you can complete the render in VideoWave, you can take that new video and put it on your menu in DVD Builder and try to make the .iso file.

Please get back to us with more information.

The video card is NVIDIA GeForce MX 4000 64mb. I did do a defrag but it took a very short time as it is a fairly recent install. As far as ... VideoWave, do a File\ Output project to.... choose Video File for DVD Authoring\ Best", it would not do "Best"; the computer would just crash after a while. But it would do the less than best but I only tried 1 short mpeg to test it.

You will have better luck if you install a new video card. I know that one other person got that card to work, but I don't know how it was possible.
