Opening a DVD Image From a File

Centrius

Question

With DVD Copy 1 & 2 I was able to browse to a DVD I had stored on my hard drive and DVD Copy would detect that a folder was a DVD and I could choose the scenes, etc. I'm now running Vista and lost the ability to browse to a file and choose a folder on my hard drive that was a DVD with v2, and consequently purchased v3 of the software today figuring it would remedy my problem. Although I see the DVD icon on the folders in the Roxio browser, I am still unable to browse to a DVD folder and simply select it, see the scenes on the DVD, click ok and burn. This feature in all its simplicity is why I can't live without this software and pay to purchase every version when it comes out. Is there something I'm doing wrong or has this feature been disabled?

(Screenshot or it didn't happen... ) :P

(YOUTHCONF2 (my youth conference slideshow DVD) should display the DVD menu and contents on the right side where it says "Browse to find content for your project" and the OK button should be available to click... but it's not. Oddly enough, the feature will work IF I make an image (ISO, etc.), and should you choose the image route it unfortunately won't magically convert the 6gb image to fit a 4.7gb disc like it used to. It takes nearly 10 minutes to make an image anyhow, which is a huge pain in the butt versus the 1-2 minutes it takes to rip the disc to the hard drive.)

Thanks for your help.

* FYI - After reading the Roxio announcements in depth I just want to clarify I'm not working with copyrighted content. The reason I go through with ripping the DVD image to the hard drive first is that a direct drive-to-drive copy doesn't even copy at 1x whereas I can rip to the drive in roughly a minute or two and then burn at 16x in only a few more minutes. Burning at 1x takes well over an hour for a standard DVD!

Is it a safe assumption Roxio doesn't answer support questions? As a web programmer/designer we get reprimanded if we don't respond to our clients within 24 hours. The lack of a response on this issue only tells me the product is indeed faulty/buggy.

Another heads up by the way... I installed and tested on XP as well to find the same thing.

Since no one from Roxio cares about their clientele enough to answer in a timely manner, I would highly recommend anyone considering purchasing this program to refrain from their purchase until this bug is fixed or minimally addressed. Maybe that statement will get someone's attention at Roxio. >.>

I just thought I'd make it known that the video compilation tool works, but crashes very frequently. I've yet to have a successful compilation complete from start to finish that didn't stop about 1/3 of the way into the project (converting several DivX AVI files to a standard DVD).

On a positive note, the Audio converter rocks! I have high hopes for this product as it eliminated my need for Audiograbber and Tag & Rename (definitely not sorry to see those programs go). I'd love to see more tagging options in the future. Haven't had any problems with this new program either.

Of course the label creator is also wonderful.

Really unsure as to why the copy software has gone to crap. I really thought it was just Vista, but now having tried it on two machines, one with XP and one with Vista, the problems are consistent. Did you guys actually test the software before it was released? The v3 copier is quite bad compared to v2 (buggy, features are broken, crashes, etc.). Would love to see a response AND a patch in the next few days.

This is not a Roxio support site.It is a users forum, put up and maintained by Roxio.True, from time to time Roxio employees stop in but mostly all the responses provided are by fellow users.

I don't have the product you are using but I'm wondering if the problem is you're trying to use it with Vista.I'm not sure that DVD Copy is Vista compatible.

It's "not a Roxio support site"? Then why is it labeled as such all over their site? Of course maybe thats my misinterpretation of the word "support". I didn't mean to actually think that the forums under the support category in the menu actually meant "support". Silly me.

/sarcasm of course :P

I'm not trying to be rude by the way. Thank you for stepping in. You'd just think that Roxio would jump all over this seeing as how it's a new release. I guess my understanding now from you is that they don't really pay too much attention to the forums. Bummer.

Even after filing a ticket; No responses, no answers, no nothing. Purchased and switched to Nero. Took a while to get used to, but it actually works and works faster.

Kinda sad really... I've been using this software loyally since Adaptec v3.x (on my 2x cdr burner... what's a CDRW? lol).

Not gonna come back for a while. Clean up your act Roxio.

Peace out.
