Fast Paced Slide show - How?

creeker69

Question

In EMC9 - VideoWave.

All you Gurus,

I need to create a fairly fast paced slide show. I want different photos to "flash" with the beat of a rather fast audio. So that a new picture "flashes" or appears with every main beat. (Does anyone remember the 50's-60's instrumental POPCORN?)

Anyway, the least amount of time I can manage for a panel is 0.33 and the least amount of time for an overlay is 0.20.

Here's what I tried on my own after not finding a thread on here addressing this kind of need:

I tried to use overlays spaced out so that when playiong back, VW shows Panel1 then half way through the overlay "kicks in" then Panel2 (which is about half way doen because the overlay was at the tail end of panel1 and the beginning of panel2. The a new overlay, panel3, overlay etc.

I hope I have explained what I have tried to make it work. Does it, BTW. Kinda. Timing is really hard. I cannot change the 'start and end' time in the properties window where it is displayed and can only click and drag the overlay to what I think is the correct position.

I am hoping there is an easier way because at this rate, it will take me months to do a minute of this music.

Thanks in advance,

Ron

Try CineMagic or use one of the themes for slide shows in the Slide Show Assistant under the Photo tab. I'm not sure if you can get it to the beat of the music however.

Remember that adding a transition takes time away from the image display. In your case, 0.33 image and 0.2 transition. You image actually displays only 0.33 - 0.1 -0.1 = .13 seconds. That's pretty fast.

One other possible option. Place all your pictures and transitions on the video track in the order you want them to appear. Set the duration to the fastest allowed. Do not include the music at this point. Output the project to a video file, either MPEG2 or DV AVI. Start a new Videowave project and insert the newly create video file on the video track and add the music to the audio track. Right click on the video file in the timeline view, select Trim.. and then increase the speed of the video (speed adjustment at the bottom of the Video Trimmer window) to coincide with the beat of the music.

With a little messing around with the speed adjustment, you should be able to get what you want and it may be easier/quicker than the overlay method.
