GLBII
I downloaded the EMC Suite 9 and I see that I still have EMC Suite 8 as a totally seperate program. Can/Should I delete EMC 8 without it messing with EMC 9? Should I not worry about it? Anything else I should know? Thanks-GLBII
aiki456
You say you downloaded V9.Did you install it?If you did you should have uninstalled V8 first and then install V9. I have the same issue: Yes I did install V9 but no I did not uninstall V8 - I thought the install software would handle that. So, possibly a dumb question but here goes, is it safe to uninstall V8 now? Thank you!
tbrewst
When the V9 install runs it doesn't uninstall all of V8,only parts of it.If you go to the Control Panel and do Add/Remove on V8 I think you would be safe.It is possible to have more than 1 version running on the same machine, like 7.5 and 9.It's just that v9 and V8 don't seem to play together very well. Now that I've uninstalled V8, a configuration script is trying to run for Sonic Cineplayer Decoder Pack and failing with the message "A network error occured while attempting to read from the file "C:\DOCUMEN~1\Owner\Locals~1\Temp\pftE9.tmp\191a1a9.msi" when I click "ok" on the message, it just tries to run again - there's no way out of this loop. I tried running "repair" for V9 (which completed successfully) but it didn't resolve the problem. Have you encountered this before? Thanks again for your assistance! tbrewst
I first tried to install V9 without uninstalling V8.When I did I had problems. What I had to end up doing was uninstalling both, running a registry cleaner, doing a search of my harddrive and deleting anything Roxio or Sonic and finally doing a manual cleaning of the registry for the same things.Be sure to do a backup of the registry before doing any editing of it just in case. GLBII
You say you downloaded V9.Did you install it?If you did you should have uninstalled V8 first and then install V9. Sorry for the delay in responding. I downloaded and then installed with V8 still in place. After reading later that I could safely uninstall V8 from the Add/Remove section of the Control Panel I did so and a number of good things have happened. First, a problem I have had since I bought the computer and installed V8 with the huge patch was that it took 5 minutes for the player to acknowledge that I had a DVD in and if I tried to go to My Computer and hit the DVD icon the computer locked up. With the installation of V9 my computer recognizes the DVD instantly. No more lock ups or freezes as well. V9 is also much faster than V8. V8 I think permanently damaged my opinion of Roxio but V9 just may win me over. I think instead of coming out with new product they should just make what they have work properly. Read customer reviews and you get sick to your stomach about upgrading....but it works very well. I also have the intermitent problem of the Sonic CinePlayer Decoder trying to install and then getting an error message. If I cancel it just restarts....doesn't happen every time but often. I see in replies below others have had the same issue. Can I just delete that from my Control Panel or Add/Remove Programs? Thanks-GLBII

GLBII Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know either, but here's a little of the marketing hype I found at http://www.sonic.com/products/Consumer/Cin...gy/quality.aspx "...software based DVD decoders are able to extract significant details from the MPEG2 encoded stream and deliver them in stunning detail. Sonic's CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack provides the highest level of video and audio quality for your DVD playback experience on Windows XP. The CinePlayer decoder engine is world renowned for its remarkable video quality and superb audio clarity for DVD playback on your PC system."
