LP Song Titles

Question

I record my LP's to a CD Recorder in *.wav format then I use Roxio to manually name the tracks and store them on a Hard Drive. Eventually I record some of them to DVD's in wav format (I don't like compression).

I would like to be able to have Roxio look up the track names for the recorded LP's. Is this possible?

The LP tracks have to be in the on-line data base. Once you have the tracks recorded, go to Audio Tag Editor and add the music files. Give it as much information as you can. If the LP is in the data base, then the tags will be edited to reflect that information. Once those are set, close Audio Tag Editor and open Rename Audio Files. Select the files and how you want them renamed. That should do it. Note you can overwrite the files or make duplicates. I suggest duplicates until you are sure they were done correctly.

If they are not in the data base, then it must be doen by hand. You'd be surprised how many of the old LP are in the data base.

Do I have to rename all the tracks or just some of them and if the renamed tracks are in the database the program will replace the track number with the remaining track names and information?

Thanks,

That's a complex question.

You don't have to type in the name if you are going out to the data base. The database may give you a lot of hits; putting in the name or the artist will reduce the number of possible hits to be attached to that file as tags. Choose to replace the tags or add the tags if there are none and the result is what you think it should be. It is not always 100 percent accurate expecially with older LPs. EMC 9 will rename the music files on your computer to what the tags indicates if you choose to do that.

If those names and tags show up elsewhere depends on what you are doing with the music - audio disc, mp3 disc, DVD disc or simply playing them on your computer. It also depends on the device you are playing the disc/file with.

It is best to try a couple of files to get a feel for what the program does or doesn't do because only you can decide if it is what you want/need.
