MPEG-2 Activation Code Problem

TrickyRick55

Question

When I get the mpeg-2 activation code error, the window is blank, all that I see is what appears to be a couple of buttons. Clicking on one expands out to what appears to be three buttons. Clicking on the middle one brings up the print function, clicking on the right one brings up the fields where I assume you enter a product code and clicking on the left one closeses the activation option all together. I cannot burn a dvd at all.

Very disapointed and the lack of a KB on this at Roxio. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Rick

Thanks for the lead but I didn't find much more than I have already read. I wish that I had checked out this forum before I dropped a $ 100.00 on this product. Not to mention I have spent four days working on a slide show project for my son's Eagle Scout Court of Honor coming up this Sunday and I can't turn out a DVD because of this problem. Right now I am very disatisfied and disapointed in Roxio. Why don't they have something in their KB on this MPEG-2 issue? If it is there, I haven't been able to find it.

Not ranting, just venting.

how did you search our KB? I searched for "activation" and the first match comes up is "000123CR: Activation fails in Easy Media Creator 9"... what was the result you had? If you got different result with the same key word, I'll have someone look into it...

I think I have the same problem here. I am running Vista Enterprise Edition and I just purchased The full Roxio Suite (Easy Media Creator 9) from the web. When I launch MyDVD 9, it comes up saying:

" The following Codec's must be activated before using the application:

MPEG-2

Click OK to activate or Cancel to Abort. "

When I click OK, I get the following Error:

Internet Explorer Script Error

An error has occured in the script on this page.

Line: 922

Char: 2

Error: Object does support this property or method

Code: 0

URL: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Common%20Files/Roxio%20Shared/DLLShared/SAR_HTML_9/activation.htm?Exe=VideoWave9.exe

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page.

Now, regardless of whether I click on [Yes] or [No] basically I get the same result.

If I hit Yes, the script error appears a few more times with differnt line numbers, char's, & Errors, but they both end with a page that did not load correctly that has NO words on it.

The box has one radio button on it and a image that didn't fully load (just the placeholder) and two orange boxes with white triangles pointing to the right (at the bottom of the page).

If I click on the left button at the bottom, it appears to be the cancel button as it exits out of the activation process and says that to use this product it must be activated and the application will now close.

If I click on the right (side) button, I get the same script errors as before and clicking [Yes] or [No] to continue running the scripts will eventually get to another page that does not finish loading except this time, there are three orange boxes with white traingles pointing to the right (instead of two) and there are now 5 empty boxes near the top of the window (which appears to be wanting some sort of code), however with NO words on the page nothing can be done........

I have uninstalled, re-installed, done everything I can think of including logging a web ticket on Roxio that I did a couple of days ago and still have not received any response. I even included a zip file with screen shots of the problem!! NOTHING! Mr. Moderator, please see Web Ticket # 350968.

I'm sure it is the same issue as the person is describing above, but where is the fix? There is absolutely NOTHING on this issue on the KB.

Someone Please Help!!

Thanks!

Your quickest solution is to UNINSTALL Roxio 9 and then do a CLEAN INSTALL. To do the unistall, follow KB ID# 000086CR to the letter including backing up the registry when you are told to. Reinstall Roxio 9. This also fixes "Activation bad installation problem" Morphie
